Tamiflu Administration
Oral Administration
- Tamiflu (Oseltamivir) may be taken orally with or without food. However, tolerability may be enhanced if Tamiflu (Oseltamivir) is taken with food.
- Treatment with Tamiflu (Oseltamivir) should begin within 2 days of the onset of symptoms.
- Oral suspension: Shake well prior to use. Give patient package insert and oral syringe to patient. Use the provided oral syringe to administer Tamiflu (Oseltamivir) suspension.
- Store Tamiflu (Oseltamivir) capsules and dry powder for oral suspension at controlled room temperature 15-30 degrees C (59-86 degrees F).
Reconstitution of oral suspension:
- Loosen powder from sides of bottle. Add 52 ml of water to the 100 ml bottle or add 23 ml of water to 25 ml bottle and shake well.
- Remove the child-resistant cap and push bottle adapter into the neck of the bottle.
- Close tightly with the child-resistant cap. This will ensure proper sealing of the bottle.
- The reconsitituted suspension should be used within 10 days of preparation. Store suspension at room temperature 15-30 degrees C (59-86 degrees F) or under refrigeration 2-8 degrees C (36-46 degrees F). Do not freeze.
