Phendimetrazine Indications and Dosage
For the management of exogenous obesity as a short-term adjunct (a few weeks) in a regimen of weight reduction based on caloric restriction in patients with an initial body mass index (BMI) of 30 kg/m2 or higher and who have not responded to appropriate weight reducing regimen (diet and/or exercise) alone:
NOTE: To limit unwarranted use and risks, phendimetrazine should be continued only if satisfactory weight loss occurs within the first 4 weeks of therapy (e.g., weight loss of at least 4 lbs, or as determined by the prescriber and patient).
Oral dosage (regular capsules or tablets):
Adults: 17.5-35 mg PO 2-3 times per day, 1 hour before meals.
Children < 16 years: Not recommended.
Oral dosage (extended-release capsules):
Adults: 105 mg PO once daily, 30-60 minutes before breakfast.
Children < 16 years: Not recommended.
